The prompts your buyers are already typing about your category

2026 年 10 月 · 閱讀約 4 分鐘

Your buyers have a new first stop. Before they visit your site or ask a peer, they open ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, or Gemini and type a question about your category. The model builds that answer from real questions real people ask, and from the sources it trusts. If you want to be the name that comes back, start where the buyer starts: the exact prompt.

Most brands guess at this. They optimize for keywords they picked in a meeting. The prompts your buyers type are more specific, more local, and more revealing of intent. Find them, rank them, and you know exactly which answers you need to win.

Find the prompts your buyers actually type

You do not need a research budget to find these. You need to look where buyers already talk.

Prompts in this region are rarely in plain English only. A Jakarta buyer may ask in Bahasa Indonesia. A Hong Kong buyer may type in Traditional Chinese. Prompts carry a place: "best payroll software for SMEs in Singapore", "alternatives to a competitor in Vietnam", "is this brand reliable". Capture the language and the market, because the AI answers them separately.

Tell which prompts drive decisions

You will find dozens of prompts. Most are research, a few are decisions. The decision prompts sit close to the money and shape who gets the shortlist. Sort them fast.

A short list beats a long one. Five to ten decision prompts per market gives you a target you can actually act on.

Here is the part most teams miss. The model does not invent its answer. It assembles it from sources it trusts, then names the brands those sources vouch for. To become the answer, you have to become the thing worth citing.

Two forces do that work together, and they are the same two Cites X runs on: brand and earned media.

Strong brand strategy decides what you want to be known for. PR puts that message in front of the right journalists. The citation follows. One feeds the next.

Track your share of the answer

The answer is not fixed. Models retrain, coverage ages, and competitors keep pitching. The brand named today can be gone by next quarter. So treat your decision prompts as a live dashboard and revisit them on a repeating schedule.

Record which brands get named, whether you appear, and where you sit in the list. That movement is your real GEO metric, and it tells you whether your last PR push changed the answer. Our AI Citation Lens tracks exactly this: your presence across the prompts that matter, over time, so you can watch the needle move.

Start this week. List the five questions your buyers ask most before they buy. Type each one into ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini, and write down who gets named and who gets cited. That single page tells you which answers you are losing and which sources you need to earn. Fix that, and you stop guessing at visibility and start owning the answer your buyers already trust.

Stop treating AI like Google, and stop treating it like a person

Two opposite mistakes wreck most people's results with AI: treating it like a search box, or treating it like a self-aware mind. It is neither. The skill that changes everything is learning to instruct it.

Why we are building Cites X in Asia first

We are opening Cites X in private beta, starting in Singapore and Hong Kong. The thesis: buyers now ask AI who to trust, and winning that answer starts with brand, then earned media, in the markets global tools cover thinnest.

The media contact gap: what 5,000+ reporter profiles reveal about reaching the press in 2026

We mapped thousands of reporters across global outlets. Only about one in eight publishes a findable public contact. Here is what that means for getting covered, and cited by AI.
